HOUSE VOTES TO OVERRIDE PRESIDENTIAL VETO OF NECESSARY WATER PROJECTS

Despite news of drought-stricken Orme, TN and the pending threat of the Wolf Creek Dam damage, Congressman Marsha Blackburn was the lone Tennessean to vote against the water appropriations bill which would have provided federal funding for these and other much-needed water projects. The Congressman's blind partisanship represents the fiscal grandstanding of the Bush administration during the waning years of a President who, with the help of six years of a Republican Congress, eliminated a surplus and created a record deficit for future generations. Under the Democratic-controlled Congress, PAYGO rules have been implemented for the first time since before Republicans controlled Congress.
