(Not-so) Breaking Blackburn news

From today's Memphis Commercial Appeal...

Blackburn added to 'most corrupt' in Congress list
By Bartholomew Sullivan

WASHINGTON -- On Wednesday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a good-government watchdog group, added U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., to its list of the 24 "most corrupt members of Congress" over her repeated failure to file accurate campaign-finance reports.

Earlier this year, CREW filed a complaint, together with a Germantown woman, against Blackburn with the Federal Election Commission.

The group notes that Blackburn's campaign committee has repeatedly failed to accurately report its campaign contributions and expenditures, including payments made to her daughter and son-in-law. Its complaint is currently under review by FEC staffers.

CREW has focused its attention on a bipartisan group of legislators, including U.S. Reps. William Jefferson, D-La., and Alan B. Mollohan, D-W.Va., and Republican Sens. Ted Stevens of Alaska and Norm Coleman of Minnesota. It also put former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., on its "corrupt" list for his sale of stock in a family-run hospital chain.
