Blackburn calls on her BFF to help the GOP

Can Dubya help his ol' pal Marsha? I hope so...she's licked his boots for long enough!

Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) today expressed her frustration that the House has chosen to go on a five week vacation rather than staying in Washington to address the high cost of energy. In a letter to the President, Blackburn highlighted the need for a special session to address the energy issue. Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution allows the President to convene a special session of Congress “on extraordinary occasions.”

"It is simply irresponsible for Congress to adjourn for five weeks without taking any action to address the skyrocketing price at the pump. Congress has the power to dramatically reduce Tennesseans' energy costs, and put America on the path to long term energy independence. Unfortunately the liberal leadership of this House lacks the will to get the job done.

I call on the President and the Speaker to call Congress back into session. Perhaps in Washington’s August heat we can provide Americans the relief they deserve.”

From the Letter to the President:

“Given the detrimental impact high gasoline prices are placing on the American economy, and my constituents’ desperate cry for relief from the pain at the pump, I believe the time to act is now. The Democrat congressional leadership’s recalcitrance demands immediate action, and should you call for a special session of Congress, I will fully support your decision to force action on legislation to ease the price at the pump.”

Sincerely,

Marsha Blackburn

Member of Congress
